Backing up existing DNS settings
Preparing for Installation
Before deploying Pi-hole, document your current DNS configuration by recording your router's primary and secondary DNS servers, typically provided by your ISP or custom services like Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1). Save any custom DNS entries or local network hostnames you've configured.
For home networks, screenshot or note down the DNS settings from your router's admin interface. This ensures quick restoration if needed and maintains a reference for any custom configurations that should be migrated to Pi-hole.
