EagLED is Little Bird's wearable development kit — a complete Arduino-compatible microcontroller on a snappable board with built-in LEDs, a light sensor, push button, and battery holder. Snap apart the components, sew them onto fabric, and bring your wearable project to life.

With built-in USB support, EagLED can be programmed in the Arduino IDE and can emulate a mouse, keyboard, or MIDI device when connected to a computer. All components are flush-mounted so nothing snags on fabric, and the sewing tab pads are crocodile clip friendly for easy prototyping.

Key Features

  • Arduino-Compatible – Program with the Arduino IDE, Microsoft Certified device
  • Snappable Design – Detach LEDs, sensor, and button to sew in different locations
  • Flexible Power Options – USB, 3 V CR2032 coin cell, or 3.7 V LiPo battery
  • 3.3 V / 600 mA LDO Regulator – With diode and ideal diode protection
  • Reverse Polarity Protection – Safe even if the battery is connected backwards
  • Fabric-Friendly – Flush-mounted components won't snag garments
  • 14 Sewing Tab Pads – For attachment and electrical connections
  • 4 Indicator LEDs – Power, TX, RX, and user-controlled
  • ICSP Connector – For advanced reprogramming
  • USB HID Support – Emulate mouse, keyboard, or MIDI device
  • Dimensions – 70 × 100 mm
  • Input Voltage – 3–6 VDC (do not exceed 6 VDC)

Ideal For

  • Wearable electronics and e-textile projects
  • Beginner-friendly Arduino programming
  • Classroom STEM and maker activities
  • Interactive costumes and fabric art

Snappable Components Included

  • 1× Main microcontroller board
  • 2× Eye LEDs
  • 2× Star LEDs
  • 2× Heart LEDs
  • 1× Push button
  • 1× Light sensor
  • 1× Coin cell holder with on/off switch
Note: When powered by a CR2032 coin cell, EagLED runs for up to 10 hours with the default blink sketch.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

HID
Human Interface Device is a USB device class used for keyboards, mice, gamepads and similar controls. If a board supports HID over USB, it can act like an input device to a computer without needing a custom driver.
ICSP connector
An In-Circuit Serial Programming connector is a header used to reprogram a microcontroller directly with a programmer. It matters if you want advanced control, bootloader recovery, or to program the board without using the normal USB method.
IDE
Short for Integrated Development Environment, a program used to write, run and manage code. It matters because some learners prefer a traditional coding workspace instead of a guided notebook-style lesson.
Ideal diode
An ideal diode circuit lets current flow one way like a normal diode, but with much less voltage loss. This matters in power-selection or backup-power projects because less voltage is wasted as heat and more reaches your device.
LiPo
A LiPo (lithium polymer) battery is a rechargeable lithium battery widely used in portable projects because it is light and compact. LiPo cells need correct charging circuitry and careful handling to stay safe, so equipment that supports LiPo generally includes charging or protection hardware suited to that battery type.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
MIDI
MIDI is a standard way for electronic instruments, controllers, and software to send musical control messages such as notes, velocity, and timing. If a board supports MIDI, it can be triggered from keyboards, drum pads, sequencers, or other music gear rather than only from buttons or code.
reverse polarity protection
A circuit feature that helps protect the board if power is connected the wrong way around. It matters because it can reduce the chance of damaging the breakout during wiring mistakes, especially in classroom or prototyping use.
RX
RX means receive, usually showing data being received by the board. An RX indicator LED can help with troubleshooting USB or serial communication.
TX
TX means transmit, usually showing data being sent from the board. A TX indicator LED can help you see when the board is communicating or uploading code.
