The Argon NEO 5 M.2 NVMe Case is a premium aluminium enclosure for the Raspberry Pi 5 with built-in M.2 NVMe SSD support via the Pi 5's PCIe header. Add fast NVMe storage and boot directly from an M.2 drive, all within a compact, passively and actively cooled case with a polished black finish.
The case accepts any M-Key M.2 NVMe SSD up to 2280 size (single-sided only) and includes an aluminium heatsink for the drive. A 30 mm PWM blower fan provides active cooling under load and automatically shuts off during idle for silent passive cooling via the aluminium body and exhaust vents. All Raspberry Pi 5 ports remain accessible, including the power button.
Key Features
- M.2 NVMe Support – Accepts M-Key drives up to 2280 size via PCIe (drive not included)
- Boot from NVMe – Use your M.2 drive as the primary boot device
- Aluminium Alloy Construction – Acts as a passive heatsink with polished black finish
- 30 mm PWM Blower Fan – Active cooling under load, silent when idle
- Intake and Exhaust Vents – Optimised airflow with passive cooling fins
- NVMe Drive Heatsink – Included aluminium heatsink keeps the SSD cool
- FPC Impedance-Controlled Cable – Reliable, consistent data transfer
- Full Port Access – All Pi 5 ports and power button accessible
- Screw-On Top Cover – Protects ports when not in use
Ideal For
- Raspberry Pi 5 desktop and server setups requiring fast NVMe storage
- Media centres and NAS projects
- Any Pi 5 project needing high-speed storage with effective cooling

Resources
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- FPC
- FPC stands for flexible printed circuit, a flat flexible cable or connector style often used where space is tight. It matters because this breakout needs the correct pin count and pitch FPC cable to connect reliably to the display or high-speed interface.
- M.2
- A compact edge-connector format commonly used to plug small modules into a carrier board without soldering. On this product it is the physical connector used by the MicroMod system, so compatibility with the matching processor board is important.
- NVMe
- A high-speed storage standard commonly used by modern SSDs. NVMe support matters if you want faster storage for large AI models, video files or operating system images than a typical microSD card can provide.
- passive heatsink
- A heatsink is a piece of metal shaped to draw heat away from a hot component, and passive means it works without a fan. This matters because it can keep a processor cooler and quieter, but the case itself may become hot during use.
- PWM
- Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
