Unlock the full potential of your Raspberry Pi 5 with this officially approved 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD! Designed to take advantage of the Pi 5's PCI-E compatibility, this high-performance SSD blows past the limitations of a microSD card. Boasting 40K IOPS for 4KB random reads and 70K IOPS for 4KB random writes over the Pi's 1-lane PCI-e 2.0 Bus, you'll experience faster boot times, snappier response, and more efficient storage. Please note, the SSD comes blank and requires an external enclosure or interface to image your OS if you're planning to boot from it. Perfect for power users who want to push their Raspberry Pi to the next level!

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- M.2
- M.2 is a compact edge-connector standard for plugging small modules - such as SSDs, wireless cards or microcontroller modules - into a host board without soldering. The same slot shape can carry different interfaces (for example PCIe, SATA or USB), so keying and the supported module type need to be checked.
- microSD card
- A microSD card is a small removable flash memory card used to store data such as audio, images, logs or program files. Its capacity and formatting (often FAT32 or exFAT) affect how much can be stored and whether the card needs preparing before use.
- NVMe
- A high-speed storage standard commonly used by modern SSDs. NVMe support matters if you want faster storage for large AI models, video files or operating system images than a typical microSD card can provide.
