Foot Pedal Potentiometer - Sewing Machine Speed Controller

A foot-operated variable resistor (potentiometer) originally designed as a sewing machine speed controller, repurposed here as a hands-free analogue input for electronics projects. The resistance changes linearly from approximately 20 kΩ (released) to 1 kΩ (fully pressed).

Terminates in a 3.5 mm audio-style connector for easy integration — connect using a terminal block adapter, in-line jack, breadboard jack, or panel-mount jack. Read the variable resistance with a microcontroller's analogue input using a voltage divider with a 10 kΩ pull-up resistor.
