The 6V 2-Position 3-Way Air Valve is a solenoid-driven pneumatic valve for controlling air flow direction in pneumatic systems. Like a relay, it features three interfaces: a common port (COM), a normally open port (NO), and a normally closed port (NC). Powering the valve on or off determines which port connects to the common interface.

The valve can be used to switch air flow direction, act as an on/off valve, or control simple pneumatic actuators. It operates at 6V and draws approximately 100 mA, making it easy to drive from a microcontroller with a transistor or MOSFET.

Key Features

  • 3-Way Operation – COM, NO, and NC ports for directional air control
  • 2-Position Switching – Toggle between normally open and normally closed states
  • 6V Operation – Low voltage for easy microcontroller integration
  • Low Power – 0.6W power consumption
  • Compact and Lightweight – Only 15g

Specifications

  • Operating Voltage: 6V
  • Rated Current: 100 ±10% mA
  • DC Impedance: 60 ±10% Ω
  • Power: 0.6W
  • Air Nozzle Diameter: ø3.0mm
  • Maximum Pressure: 40 kPa (300 mmHg)
  • Medium: Gas
  • Weight: 15g

Ideal For

  • Pneumatic system prototyping
  • Inflation and air compression projects
  • Arduino-controlled pneumatic actuators
  • Hydraulic and air flow direction control

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
Impedance
Impedance is the total opposition a component or circuit presents to alternating current, measured in ohms, combining resistance with frequency-dependent reactance. It appears in many contexts, such as matching a speaker's impedance (for example 4 ohm or 8 ohm) to an amplifier or the input and output impedance of signal circuits, and a correct match helps avoid weak signals, distortion or damage.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
