Customer Information & Real Names Policy

When you place an order with Little Bird Electronics, we ask for your real, full name, a valid email address, and a contactable phone number. This isn't about collecting more than we need — it's about being able to fulfil your order correctly, protect you and us from fraud, and meet our obligations as an Australian business. This page explains what we need and why.

The short version: orders placed with fake, incomplete, or mismatched details get held for manual checks and are slower to dispatch. Entering accurate information at checkout is the single best way to make sure your order ships without delay.

What We Ask For

  • Your real, full name — a genuine first name and last name. A single initial, an obviously fake name, a business abbreviation on its own, or placeholder text (like "asdf" or "test") isn't enough.
  • A valid, monitored email address — this is where your order confirmation, tax invoice, tracking updates, and any questions from our team are sent.
  • A contactable phone number — couriers frequently need this for delivery, and we use it if we need to reach you quickly about your order.
  • An accurate billing and shipping address — including the name of the person or organisation the parcel should be delivered to.

Why We Need Accurate Details

Complete, correct customer information lets us look after your order properly:

  • Knowing our customers — As a responsible business, we have an obligation to know who we are trading with. Accurate details help us confirm that an order is genuine and that we're sending goods to the right person.
  • Fraud protection — Stolen cards are often used with fake or mismatched names and contact details. Verifying your information protects you if your details have been misused, and protects us from fraudulent transactions.
  • Payment verification — Our payment provider runs address and identity checks when processing your card. Details that match your bank records help your payment go through smoothly and reduce the chance of a decline.
  • Reliable delivery — Couriers rely on a correct name and phone number to deliver your parcel, arrange re-delivery, or contact you if there's an issue at your address.
  • Valid tax invoices — Australian tax invoices need to show the correct buyer. A real name and address ensures your invoice is valid for your records, reimbursement, or your organisation's accounts.
  • Warranty and support — If you ever need warranty service or help with a product, we look you up by your name and contact details. Accurate information means we can find your order and assist you quickly.

How Incomplete or Fake Details Slow Down Your Order

Every order is checked before it's dispatched. If an order arrives with a name that appears incomplete or fake, a contact email or phone number that doesn't work, or details that don't match the payment method, it can't be released straight away. Instead, we may:

  • Place the order on hold while we confirm the details — this takes it out of the normal same-day dispatch flow and delays shipping.
  • Contact you by email or phone to verify your information before we ship, which adds further delay if we can't reach you quickly.
  • Cancel and refund the order if we're unable to verify it or can't reach you at all.

Genuine orders with complete details flow straight through to packing and dispatch. We'd much rather get your order to you quickly, so the easiest way to avoid any hold-up is to enter accurate details at checkout the first time.

Ordering for a Business, School, or on Someone's Behalf

That's completely fine — we just need a real person's name alongside the organisation. Enter the name of the individual placing or receiving the order, and add the school, company, or department as the organisation or in the address. For purchase orders and institutional accounts, please also include an accounts or contact person so we know who to reach. See Purchase Orders for more.

Updating Your Details

  • If you have an account, you can update your name, email, phone, and saved addresses from your account settings.
  • If you checked out as a guest and need to correct something, reply to your order confirmation email or contact our team and we'll update it for you before the order ships.

Your Privacy

We only collect the information we need to process and support your order, and we handle it in line with our privacy policy. We don't sell your personal details. Asking for accurate information is about doing right by you and running a trustworthy store — not about collecting more than necessary.
