Adafruit CC3000 WiFi Breakout with uFL Connector for Ext Antenna [v1.1]

The Adafruit CC3000 WiFi Breakout adds 802.11b/g wireless connectivity to your microcontroller project over SPI. This version features a uFL connector for an external 2.4 GHz antenna, providing better range than an onboard antenna and easier enclosure mounting.

The CC3000 uses SPI for communication with proper interrupt support via an IRQ pin for asynchronous connections. It includes a built-in TCP/IP stack with a BSD socket interface, supporting TCP and UDP in both client and server mode with up to 4 concurrent sockets.

Note: The CC3000 module has been phased out. The ATWINC1500 WiFi Breakout is the recommended replacement, offering SSL support, soft-AP capability, and improved reliability.

Key Features

  • 802.11b/g WiFi – Open, WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security with TKIP and AES
  • SPI Interface – Fast data transfer with IRQ pin for asynchronous operation
  • Built-In TCP/IP Stack – BSD socket interface with TCP/UDP client and server support
  • Up to 4 Concurrent Sockets – Multiple simultaneous connections
  • uFL Antenna Connector – Requires external 2.4 GHz antenna (not included)
  • 3.3V Regulator – Handles 350 mA peak current
  • Level Shifting – Works with 3V or 5V logic
Important: An external antenna is required. You will need a uFL to RP-SMA adapter cable and a 2.4 GHz WiFi antenna (sold separately). This module does not support AP mode.
