The Arduino Mega 2560 R3 is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560, offering significantly more I/O than standard Arduino boards. With 54 digital I/O pins, 16 analog inputs, and 4 hardware serial ports, it's the go-to board for complex projects that demand extensive connectivity.
The R3 revision adds dedicated SDA and SCL pins next to the AREF pin, plus an IOREF pin that allows shields to automatically adapt to the board's voltage level. Compatible with most shields designed for the Arduino Duemilanove, Diecimila, and Uno.
