The SST Liquid Level Sensor provides single-point liquid detection via a TTL-compatible push/pull output. Its miniature optical design allows installation in tight spaces where traditional float switches won't fit.
An infrared LED and phototransistor are precisely positioned at the base of the sensing tip to maintain good optical coupling in air. When the tip is immersed in liquid, infrared light escapes from the cone, changing the light reaching the phototransistor and triggering an output state change. With no moving or mechanical parts, the sensor is resistant to jamming and wear.

- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.

- A light-sensitive transistor that changes its electrical output when light hits it. Compared with a modulated IR receiver, a simple phototransistor can be more affected by ambient light, so it may need extra filtering or careful setup.
