The MB7586 SCXL-MaxSonar-WRLT is a long-range, weather-resistant ultrasonic distance sensor with millimetre resolution. It detects the nearest target from 500 mm to 9,999 mm (approximately 10 metres) and provides output via analogue voltage, TTL serial, or pulse-width — making it versatile for a wide range of outdoor sensing applications.
Housed in a compact, rugged PVC enclosure rated IP67 for water and dust resistance, the sensor fits standard ¾-inch PVC pipe fittings for easy mounting. A self-cleaning transducer reduces the impact of condensation and frost during continuous operation in humid or enclosed environments.
Key Features
- 10-Metre Range – Detects targets from 500 mm to 9,999 mm
- 1 mm Resolution – High-precision distance measurements
- IP67 Weather Resistant – Rugged PVC housing, sealed against water and dust
- Self-Cleaning Transducer – Reduces condensation and frost buildup
- Three Output Modes – Analogue voltage, TTL serial, and pulse-width
- Real-Time Auto-Calibration – Compensates for voltage, humidity, temperature, and ambient noise
- Advanced Noise Rejection – Continuously variable gain, waveform analysis, and firmware filtering
- Minimal Dead Zone – Objects closer than 500 mm are reported as 500 mm

Resources
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- IP67
- An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
- TTL serial
- A simple serial data connection that uses microcontroller logic-level signals rather than computer RS-232 voltage levels. It matters because the camera can connect directly to many microcontroller pins or a USB-to-TTL serial adapter, but not safely to an old-style RS-232 port without conversion.
