This compact kit provides a networking carrier platform for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 series, suited to embedded routing, gateway and edge networking projects. It is designed for dual-gigabit networking using the CM4 built-in Ethernet interface and a PCI Express 1000BASE-T NIC, offering a more efficient architecture than typical USB Ethernet adaptors.

The 55×62 mm carrier board keeps the footprint small while still providing useful expansion. A 26-pin GPIO header supports Raspberry Pi-style expansion, while the USB 2.0 interface can be used with peripherals such as storage devices, printers, Wi-Fi modules or LTE modules.

This kit includes the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 IoT Router Carrier Board Mini, a metal cooling case with heat sink, and a PiTray mini for Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. Software support includes OpenWRT for router builds, along with Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu Server and other Raspberry Pi software environments.

Features:

  • Designed for Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 series
  • Dual gigabit Ethernet capability using onboard interface and PCIe network card
  • Higher networking performance and lower CPU usage compared with USB Ethernet adapters
  • Compact 55×62 mm form factor suitable for embedded systems
  • 26-pin GPIO header compatible with Raspberry Pi expansion ecosystem
  • USB 2.0 interface for storage devices, printers, Wi-Fi modules, and LTE modules
  • Supports OpenWRT router firmware and multiple Linux operating systems
  • Suitable for routers, gateways, NAS devices, and embedded networking platforms

Specifications:

  • Compatible Module: Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 series
  • Ethernet ETH1: Compute Module 4 Built-In
  • Ethernet ETH2: PCI Express 1000BASE-T NIC
  • USB-C power: 1x USB-C: Power only
  • USB-C data: 1x USB-C: USB 2.0 High Speed
  • Storage Card: microSD slot (Only modules without eMMC supported)
  • GPIO: 26Pin GPIO compatible with Raspberry Pi
  • Power Supply: USB-C 5V/3A
  • Operating Temperature: 0℃~80℃
  • Dimension: 55x62mm/2.17x2.44”

A handy foundation for custom OpenWRT routers, firewall appliances, IoT gateways, mini NAS nodes, wireless bridges, LTE/4G terminals and compact edge computing systems.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

edge computing
Edge computing means processing data close to where it is collected, such as on the device itself, rather than sending everything to the cloud. This can reduce delays, internet dependence, and privacy concerns in sensor, camera, and robotics projects.
eMMC
Embedded MultiMediaCard is built-in flash storage soldered onto a board, similar in purpose to an SD card but integrated. It matters because it holds the operating system and files without needing a separate memory card.
GPIO
General-purpose input/output pins are microcontroller pins you can set in software to read signals, switch devices on and off, or connect to peripherals. The number of GPIO pins matters because it limits how many buttons, LEDs, sensors, and other parts you can wire directly to the board.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
USB-C
A modern reversible USB connector used for power and data connections. On this product it matters because it can connect directly to a computer as well as to a microcontroller project.
