The binocular camera module features dual onboard OV2640 cameras, 2MP pixels, 60mm binocular distance, compatible with standard 24P camera. It is suitable for AI vision applications like depth vision and stereo vision.

The OV2640 camera chip is a low voltage CMOS image sensor that provides the full functionality of a single-chip UXGA(1632*1232) camera and image processor in a small footprint package. All required image functions, including exposure control, gamma, white balance, color saturation, hue control, white pixel canceling, noise canceling, and more, are also programmable through the Serial Camera Control Bus (SCCB) interface. Furthermore, the OV2640 includes a compression engine for increased processing power.

In addition, the camera chip use proprietary sensor technology to improve image quality by reducing or eliminating common lighting/electrical sources of image contamination, such as fixed pattern noise, smearing, etc., to produce a clean, fully stable color image.

Features
  • High sensitivity for low-light operation
  • Low operating voltage for embedded portable apps
  • Standard SCCB interface
  • Output support for RWA RGB, RGB(RGB565/555), GRB442, YUV(422/420) and YCbCr (4:2:2) formats

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

    DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
    FPC
FPC stands for flexible printed circuit, a thin flat flexible cable or connector style often used where space is tight or some movement is needed, commonly for displays, cameras and other high-density connections. Connecting to an FPC connector generally needs a matching cable with the correct pin count, pitch and contact orientation.
    lux
Lux is the standard unit for measuring how much light falls on a surface, similar to how a light meter reports brightness. A sensor that outputs lux gives readings that are easier to compare between rooms, outdoor conditions, and different projects.
    RGB
Short for red, green and blue, the three primary colours of light that are mixed in varying amounts to make a wide range of colours. In electronics RGB can refer to an LED or pixel that blends these three colours, or to a colour signal or interface that carries separate red, green and blue channels.
