The ME007YS is a waterproof ultrasonic distance sensor designed for non-contact liquid level measurement and other distance sensing applications. With an IP67-rated sealed probe and UART serial output, it delivers reliable readings from 28 cm to 450 cm.

Operating at 5V with a simple 3-wire connection, this sensor outputs distance data via UART at 9600 baud, making it easy to integrate with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers.

Key Features

  • IP67 Waterproof Rating – Fully sealed probe suitable for outdoor and wet environments
  • UART Serial Output – 9600 baud with standard frame format for easy integration
  • Wide Detection Range – 28 cm to 450 cm measuring distance
  • Compact Probe Design – Small form factor with 2.5 m cable length

Specifications

  • Operating Voltage – 5V DC
  • Probe Frequency – 40 kHz
  • Measuring Range – 28–450 cm
  • Blind Zone – 28 cm
  • Resolution – 1 mm
  • Output – UART (9600 baud, 8N1)
  • Waterproof Rating – IP67
  • Cable Length – 2.5 m

Ideal For

  • Liquid level monitoring in tanks and reservoirs
  • Non-contact distance measurement in wet or outdoor environments
  • Arduino and Raspberry Pi sensing projects
  • Industrial automation and water management systems

Package Contents

  • 1× ME007YS Waterproof Ultrasonic Sensor
Note: The sensor has a 28 cm blind zone — objects closer than 28 cm cannot be measured accurately.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

baud
Baud is the signalling rate of a serial connection, often used as the speed setting for UART communication. Matching the baud rate matters because both connected devices must use the same setting for readable data.
DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
IP67
An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
UART
UART is a simple asynchronous serial interface that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, usually labelled TX and RX, with both ends set to the same baud rate. It is a common way for microcontrollers and other serial devices to exchange data.
