INTRODUCTION
The Leddar M16 Sensor Module is an advanced sensing solution that combines 16 independent active elements into a single sensor, resulting in rapid, continuous and accurate detection and ranging-including lateral discrimination-in the entire wide beam, without any moving parts. The versatile Leddar M16 module can be easily integrated to add cost-effective, smart sensing capabilities to almost any application, enabling developers and integrators to make the most of this cutting-edge technology. Various beam options, creating different fields of view ranging from 9 to 95 degrees, are available to provide the best possible match to your requirements.
The modules come with the Leddar Enabler SDK, which provides a user-friendly application programming interface (API) with .Net and C libraries, complete with code examples. Sample code for RS-485/MODBUS for both Windows and Linux, as well as LabVIEW and MATLAB integration examples are also provided. Benefits:- Proven reliability, even in harsh conditions

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- API
- An API (application programming interface) is a defined set of commands or functions that lets one piece of software interact with another, such as a library, operating system, hardware driver or online service. When something offers API support, it means you can control or query it from your own code rather than only through its built-in menus or buttons.
- Modbus
- Modbus is an industrial communication protocol used by many meters, sensors, PLCs and automation devices. When a product lists Modbus support, it is generally easier to integrate with existing industrial equipment that speaks the same protocol.
- Torque
- A twisting force that causes something to rotate, usually measured in newton-metres or kilogram-centimetres. It matters when choosing motors, servos, gears, and tools because higher torque is needed to lift heavier loads, turn larger wheels, or move mechanisms without stalling.
- UART
- UART is a simple asynchronous serial interface that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, usually labelled TX and RX, with both ends set to the same baud rate. It is a common way for microcontrollers and other serial devices to exchange data.
