A 5 mm diffused RGB LED with a common anode configuration. Three individual colour channels (red, green, blue) share a single anode pin, allowing independent control of each colour. Use it as a multi-colour status indicator, or drive all three channels with PWM to mix custom colours.
The diffused lens provides a wider viewing angle compared to clear LEDs, producing a softer, more evenly distributed light output.
Key Features
- Common Anode – Single shared anode pin with three independent cathodes (R, G, B)
- Diffused Lens – Wide viewing angle with soft, even light distribution
- PWM Compatible – Mix colours by modulating individual channels
- Standard 5 mm Package – Through-hole, 4-pin
Specifications
- Package – 5 mm diffused, 4-pin through-hole
- Configuration – Common anode
- Forward Voltage – Red: 2.0 V, Green: 3.2 V, Blue: 3.2 V
- Max Forward Current – 20 mA per channel
- Max Luminosity – Red: 2,800 mcd, Green: 6,500 mcd, Blue: 1,200 mcd

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
- microcontroller
- A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
- PWM
- Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
- RGB
- Short for red, green and blue, the three primary colours of light that are mixed in varying amounts to make a wide range of colours. In electronics RGB can refer to an LED or pixel that blends these three colours, or to a colour signal or interface that carries separate red, green and blue channels.
- through-hole
- A mounting style where the component leads pass through holes in a circuit board and are soldered on the other side. Through-hole parts are often easier to handle and solder by hand, which is useful for classroom and hobby projects.
