This 7″ display kit features a 1024×600 resolution TFT panel with a resistive touchscreen overlay and HDMI stereo audio output. The included driver board accepts HDMI, VGA, and composite (NTSC/PAL) video inputs, making it compatible with Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, and any device with standard video output.

The kit includes an AR1100-based resistive touch screen to USB mouse controller. Once calibrated (Windows calibration software included), the touchscreen appears as a standard USB mouse — no special drivers needed. It has been tested successfully on macOS, Windows, and Debian Linux (including Raspberry Pi OS).

Key Features

  • 7″ TFT Display – 1024×600 resolution
  • Resistive Touchscreen – USB HID mouse emulation via AR1100 controller
  • Triple Video Input – HDMI, VGA, and composite (NTSC/PAL)
  • HDMI Audio Output – Stereo speaker output pins (LOUT+/−, ROUT+/−)
  • OSD Controls – On-screen menu for brightness, colour, and contrast adjustment
  • Auto-Detect Input – Automatically selects active video source

Specifications

  • Screen Size – 7″ diagonal
  • Resolution – 1024×600
  • Panel Type – TFT (not IPS — limited viewing angles)
  • Touch Type – Resistive (USB HID)
  • Video Inputs – HDMI, VGA, Composite (NTSC/PAL)
  • Audio Output – Stereo via 4-pin header (requires soldering speakers)
  • Power – 5–12 V DC
Tip: For Raspberry Pi, edit config.txt to set the HDMI output to 1024×600 if the resolution is not detected automatically. Insert the SD card into any computer and edit the file with a text editor.
Note: The resistive touchscreen does not respond in the top ~2 mm of the display area due to the panel construction. The AR1100 calibration software is Windows-only, but once calibrated the screen works on any OS. Does not work with DVI-only output without a DVI-to-HDMI converter.

Package Contents

  • 1× 7″ 1024×600 TFT display with resistive touchscreen
  • 1× HDMI/VGA/Composite driver board with OSD controls
  • 1× AR1100 resistive touch screen to USB controller
  • 1× Speaker output cable (4-pin)
Not Included: Power adapter (5–12 V DC), cables, display stand, speakers, and Raspberry Pi are sold separately.

Ideal For

  • Raspberry Pi and single-board computer projects
  • Embedded displays and kiosks
  • Portable media players
  • DIY touch-enabled interfaces

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

HDMI
HDMI is a common digital video and audio connection used by computers, media players, and many displays. If a display kit has HDMI input, it is usually much easier to test with a single-board computer because it can act like a normal monitor.
HID
Human Interface Device is a USB device class used for keyboards, mice, gamepads and similar controls. If a board supports HID over USB, it can act like an input device to a computer without needing a custom driver.
IPS
IPS is a type of LCD panel that keeps colours and contrast more consistent when viewed from an angle. This matters for small displays that may be mounted in a dashboard, handheld project, or enclosure where the viewer is not always looking straight on.
single-board computer
A complete computer built onto one circuit board, usually including the processor, memory, ports, and connectors. This matters because accessories like heatsinks must match the board’s layout and mounting holes to fit properly.
TFT
A thin-film transistor display is a common type of colour LCD used for graphics screens. Knowing a product is for TFTs helps you check that the driver board matches the display’s connector, resolution, backlight, and signalling method.
