This Gravity digital relay module is designed for switching external loads from low-voltage controller boards. It suits 5V Arduino boards as well as 3.3V platforms such as Raspberry Pi, BBB, mbed, Intel Joule and Arduino 101.

The module uses a high quality 3V relay and supports a wide input range, making it practical for mixed-voltage maker projects. The relay output provides normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) terminals, and an on-board LED shows the relay state at a glance.

It connects via the DFRobot Gravity 3-pin interface, so it can be plugged in without soldering when used with compatible Gravity cables and controllers. The supplied acrylic base helps isolate the underside of the board, and the package includes the relay module with acrylic base plus a Gravity digital sensor cable.

Features:

  • Supports Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Lattepanda .etc.
  • 2.8 ~ 5.5V - A wide-range of input voltages
  • The underside of board is isolated using an acrylic plate for safety
  • Includes an LED Indicator
  • Uses a gravity-3 Pin interface for easy, plug and play usage

Specifications:

  • Operating Voltage: 2.8V ~ 5.5V
  • Input Signal: High Level (≥2.8V); Low Level (≤0.5V)
  • Max Switching Current: 10A
  • Max Switching Voltage: 35VAC; 30VDC
  • Rating Load: 10A@35VAC; 10A@28VDC
  • Max Switching Power: 300W
  • Operate Time: ≤10ms
  • Release Time: ≤5ms
  • Dimensions: 38 x 33 x 20 mm /1.5 x 1.3 x 0.81"
  • Mechanical Life: 1 million uses
  • Electrical Life: 50 thousand uses
  • Weight: 20g

A handy relay breakout for Arduino, Raspberry Pi and DFRobot Gravity builds where you need simple digital control of a higher-current circuit within the specified ratings.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

breakout
A breakout board carries a small or fine-pitched component and brings its connections out to standard, breadboard- and header-friendly pins. Describing a part as a breakout means it can be wired into a project without soldering directly to the component's tiny contacts.
Gravity
Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
Relay module
A relay module uses an electrically controlled switch to let a low-power microcontroller control a separate circuit. It matters when switching devices that need different voltages or more current than a microcontroller pin can safely handle.
