The Crowduino Nano V3.1 is a compact, breadboard-friendly development board based on the ATmega328, fully compatible with the Arduino Nano 3.0 and its shields. It features a Mini-B USB port for programming and serial communication, 14 digital I/O pins (6 with PWM), and 8 analogue inputs.

Power is automatically selected from the highest available source: USB, unregulated external supply (6–20 V on pin 30), or regulated 5 V (pin 27). The on-board FT232RL USB-to-serial converter also enables use as a standalone USB-UART adapter via the TX/RX breakout pins.

Key Features

  • ATmega328 Microcontroller – 32 KB flash (2 KB bootloader), 2 KB SRAM, 1 KB EEPROM
  • Arduino Nano Compatible – Works with Arduino IDE and Nano shields
  • Mini-B USB – Programming, serial monitor, and USB-UART converter
  • Breadboard Friendly – Standard 2.54 mm DIP spacing
  • Status LEDs – Power (red), TX (green), RX (green), and L (green)
  • Auto Power Selection – Automatically uses the highest voltage source

Specifications

  • Microcontroller – ATmega328
  • Operating Voltage – 5 V
  • Input Voltage – 7–12 V recommended (6–20 V limit)
  • Digital I/O Pins – 14 (6 with PWM output)
  • Analogue Input Pins – 8
  • DC Current per I/O Pin – 40 mA
  • Flash Memory – 32 KB (2 KB used by bootloader)
  • SRAM – 2 KB
  • EEPROM – 1 KB
  • Clock Speed – 16 MHz
  • Dimensions – 18.5 × 43.2 mm

Package Contents

  • 1× Crowduino Nano V3.1
Note: When running on external (non-USB) power, the 3.3 V output is not available as it is supplied by the FT232RL USB chip.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Bootloader
Small starter software on a microcontroller that lets new code be uploaded before the main program runs. Knowing how to enter bootloader mode matters when you need to program the board or recover it after a faulty sketch.
breakout
A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
EEPROM
A type of non-volatile memory that keeps stored data even when power is turned off. In a sensor module, it can be used to store settings or calibration data so they do not need to be re-entered every time.
Flash memory
Non-volatile memory that keeps stored data even when power is removed. In this sensor, it matters because enrolled fingerprint templates can remain saved after the project is turned off.
IDE
Short for Integrated Development Environment, a program used to write, run and manage code. It matters because some learners prefer a traditional coding workspace instead of a guided notebook-style lesson.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
PWM
Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
SRAM
Fast temporary memory used by a processor while a program is running. More SRAM helps with projects that handle larger data buffers, networking, displays, or more complex code.
UART
UART is a simple serial connection that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, often labelled TX and RX. It matters because this module is designed to replace a wired UART cable with a wireless link while keeping the same serial data format.
