This 5-way tactile switch provides joystick-like directional input in a tiny surface-mount package. It supports four directional movements (up, down, left, right) plus a centre press, making it ideal for menu navigation, cursor control, and compact user interfaces where a full-size joystick won't fit.
The switch is surface-mount but has large enough pads for hand soldering. Its low profile and small footprint make it well-suited for handheld devices, wearables, and space-constrained PCB designs.
Key Features
- 5-Way Input – Up, down, left, right, and centre press
- Compact SMD Package – Joystick-like control in a tiny footprint
- Hand-Solderable – Surface mount with accessible pad spacing
- Low Profile – Minimal height above the PCB
Ideal For
- Menu navigation and UI control on embedded devices
- Handheld gaming and portable electronics
- Wearable device input
- Any project needing directional input in a small form factor
Package Contents
- 1× 5-Way Tactile Switch (SMD)
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
- SMD
- SMD means surface-mount device, a component style designed to be soldered directly onto the surface of a circuit board rather than through holes. SMD parts are compact and mounted flat on the board, which suits smaller and mass-produced designs.
