The 3D RGB Xmas Tree sits on top of your Raspberry Pi and features 25 individually addressable RGB LEDs that you can control with Python. Change colours, adjust brightness, create fading effects, or build your own festive light show — each LED is independently programmable.

Designed by Rachel Rayns, the tree is compatible with any 40-pin Raspberry Pi and looks especially good perched on a Pi Zero. The side branches are push-fit — they slide into the main board without soldering.

Key Features

  • 25 RGB LEDs – Individually addressable for full colour control
  • No Soldering Required – Push-fit branch assembly
  • 40-Pin Raspberry Pi Compatible – Works with any 40-pin Pi (Pi 3, Pi 4, Pi Zero, etc.)
  • Python Programmable – Libraries and examples provided for easy setup

Ideal For

  • Festive Raspberry Pi projects and decorations
  • Learning Python LED control and programming
  • Stocking fillers and gifts for makers

Package Contents

  • 1× 3D RGB Xmas Tree PCB with 25 RGB LEDs
  • Push-fit branch pieces
Warning: Make sure you don't place the tree on your Raspberry Pi backwards. Incorrect orientation will send power to the wrong pins.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
RGB
Short for red, green and blue, usually referring to an LED that can mix those three colours. It matters because controlling an RGB LED teaches how separate outputs combine to create different colours.
