NOTE: These devices are not recommended for the PI5 which uses USB-C PD to supply more power than a PI4

This device is perfect for turning on and off power to your Raspberry Pi 4 or other single board computer powered by USB-C. You can use your existing power adapters and cables provided that they can drive adequate current. Note, there will be a voltage drop across the switch.

Please note: If your Raspberry Pi remains on or does not turn on after shutdown, a connected device is back-powering your Raspberry Pi. Discontinue use of your Raspberry Pi with the device in question as the voltage gradient between your power supply and the back-powering source may damage your board.

Cheap power supplies are almost guaranteed to not be able drive the Raspberry Pi 4

These switches cannot be used with a ‘USB-C to USB-C’ lead as the pin layout does not correspond to cut the power through the switch. They can only be used with a ‘USB-A to USB-C’ cable that supplies power to the right pins and works with the switch.

Finally! I can switch off my Pi (or any USB C Powered Item) with the push of a button :D *Confetti*
So not advisable to switch of a running PI until shut down properly, otherwise it throws an tantrum. But now i can switch it on with a button push and switch it off easily with out all that fiddling around with a cable to find the port and plug it in or remove it. *insert TV AD fumbling video here* ... Simply put, the switch plugs in well on both ends, no wobble and the switch works well. Length is a good size without being a pain.

Has one issue

I purchased two usb-c to usb-c line switches that don’t work unless there’s a usb-a end on one of the cables. I put one usb-c end into the usb-c port on my Mac Mini and the other into a usb-c light. Didn’t work, but when I put a usb.a cable into the Mac mini it worked. I realise this is noted on the website but surely in this day and age when everything is heading to usb-c, having to use legacy cables suggests that someone in R&D needs to lift their game. So

Great little device for controlling Raspberry Pis

I use this for switching on power to a Raspberry Pi that is either plugged in to a (branded) Pi USB power supply or to a 12V battery sourced supply (via a 5V outlet). These little switches are great, particularly as you may not wish to switch the source supply off and you may wish to switch the Pi on not that long after switching it off. I find them convenient when prototyping configurations.
