Available in two variants—13 and 26 tera-operations per second (TOPS)—the AI HAT+ is powered by the Hailo-8L and Hailo-8 neural network inference accelerators. The 13 TOPS version, highlighted here, excels at running neural networks for tasks like object detection, semantic and instance segmentation, pose estimation, and more. Utilizing the Raspberry Pi 5’s PCIe Gen 3 interface, the AI HAT+ seamlessly integrates with the host device. When running the latest Raspberry Pi OS, the system automatically recognizes the onboard Hailo accelerator, enabling the NPU for AI computing. Additionally, the rpicam-apps camera applications included in Raspberry Pi OS support the AI module, leveraging the NPU for efficient post-processing of compatible tasks.
