Differential Comparator - LM311
The LM311 is a single high-speed voltage comparator designed to operate from a wide range of power supply voltages, from ±15V (op-amp supplies) down to 5V (logic systems). The output is compatible with most TTL and MOS circuits, and can drive loads up to 50V at 50 mA — suitable for switching lamps, relays, and other loads.
All inputs and outputs can be isolated from system ground, with outputs capable of driving loads referenced to ground, VCC+, or VCC–. The device includes offset balancing, strobe capability, and wire-OR compatible outputs.
Key Features
- High-Speed Comparator – Fast response for voltage comparison applications
- Wide Supply Range – Operates from single 5V to ±15V supplies
- TTL/MOS Compatible Output – Direct interface to logic circuits
- 50V / 50 mA Output – Can directly drive lamps, relays, and solenoids
- Strobe Input – Forces output off regardless of differential input
- Wire-OR Outputs – Multiple comparator outputs can be connected together
- Offset Balancing – Trim input offset voltage
Ideal For
- Voltage threshold detection
- Window comparator circuits
