The µHex is an ultra-low-power Arduino-compatible controller built around the ATmega328P, designed for battery-powered projects. With a sleep current of just 0.12 µA at 3.3V, a single CR2032 coin cell (210 mAh) can keep it running for up to 60 days. Its unique hexagonal PCB packs 14 GPIO pins and 7 power ports into a compact 28 × 31 mm form factor.

Four of the power output ports can be individually switched off via software to further reduce consumption. Two sleep-wake interfaces allow the controller to be woken by external events, making it ideal for sensor nodes and intermittent monitoring applications. Programmed via the Arduino IDE as an "Arduino Pro or Pro Mini (3.3V, 8 MHz)".

Key Features

  • Ultra-Low Sleep Current – 0.12 µA at 3.3V (watchdog off)
  • ATmega328P – Arduino-compatible, 8 MHz RC oscillator
  • 14 Digital I/O Pins – Including PWM on pins 3, 5, 9, 10, 11
  • 6 Analog Inputs – For sensor integration
  • 4 Switchable Power Outputs – Reduce power by disabling unused peripherals
  • 2 Sleep-Wake Interfaces – External interrupt-driven wake-up
  • 2.7–5V Operation – Runs directly from a CR2032 or other low-voltage sources
  • Compact Hexagonal Design – 28 × 31 × 2.3 mm, 10 g

Specifications

  • Microcontroller – ATmega328P
  • Flash – 32 KB (0.5 KB bootloader)
  • SRAM – 2 KB
  • EEPROM – 1 KB
  • Interfaces – 1× UART, 1× I2C, 2× Interrupt
  • Max Current – 2 A
  • Solder Pad Pitch – 2 mm / 2.54 mm
Warning: Bootloader is write-protected — do not attempt to update it. For high-current loads (e.g. motors), connect VCC and GND directly or use an independent power supply.
