The VFD Tube Module brings a classic vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) to modern microcontroller projects. Built around the Soviet-era IV-22 tube, this self-contained module integrates the high-voltage boost circuit, 74HC595 shift-register driver, and an RGB background LED — so you can focus on code and design rather than complex wiring.

Modules connect in series using just four I/O pins from an Arduino or other MCU platform, making it straightforward to build multi-digit clocks, counters, and decorative displays with the distinctive cyan VFD glow and customisable RGB backlighting.

Key Features

  • IV-22 VFD Tube – Classic vacuum fluorescent display with characteristic cyan glow
  • Integrated Boost Circuit – On-board high-voltage generation; no external HV supply needed
  • 74HC595 Shift Register – Serial-in, parallel-out control using only 4 I/O pins
  • RGB Background LED – Individually controllable for colourful lighting effects
  • Serial Daisy-Chaining – Connect multiple modules in series for multi-digit displays
  • 5 V DC Extra Output – Auxiliary power out for the controller board
  • Gold-Plated PCB – Quality construction with gold-plated tube socket
