SparkFun MEMS Microphone Breakout - INMP401 (ADMP401)
A compact breakout board featuring the ADMP401 MEMS microphone with bottom-ported input, allowing the microphone to sit flush against your project's enclosure. The onboard amplifier outputs an analogue signal that connects directly to any microcontroller's ADC.
The amplifier has a gain of 67 and the AUD output floats at half Vcc when no sound is detected. At normal conversational volume, the output produces a peak-to-peak signal of approximately 200 mV — easily readable by most analogue inputs.
Key Features
- Bottom-Ported Input – Mounts flush against enclosures for clean, integrated designs
- 1.5–3.3 V Supply – Low-power operation suitable for battery-powered projects
- Frequency Response – −3 dB roll-off at 100 Hz and 15 kHz
- SNR – −62 dBA signal-to-noise ratio
- Onboard Amplifier – 67× gain with analogue output up to approximately 40 mW
Ideal For
- Sound-reactive LED and music visualiser projects
- Volume level detection and monitoring
