SparkFun RedBoard Edge
The SparkFun RedBoard Edge is a reworked RedBoard designed for panel mounting in custom project enclosures. It separates "user-facing" components (USB, power, LEDs, reset) from "project-facing" connections (screw terminals, Qwiic, grouped GPIO), making it easy to build clean, finished-looking products.
Fully compatible with the standard RedBoard and Arduino UNO, you can prototype on a regular RedBoard and move your project to the Edge without any code changes. Program it over Micro-USB using the Arduino IDE — just select "Arduino UNO" from the board menu.
Key Features
- Panel-Mount Design – User-facing and project-facing sides separated for enclosure integration
- Qwiic Connector – I2C plug-and-play for SparkFun Qwiic boards
- Grouped Pin Layout – Pins organised by function (PWM, ADC, SPI) with parallel power rails
- 2-Pin Screw Terminal – 5 mm terminal connected to VIN through the front panel toggle switch
- Enclosure Grounding – Standoffs next to barrel jack connect to USB shield or board ground
- Right-Angle Power Switch – Front-panel accessible toggle
- 4 Status LEDs – RX, TX, Pin 13, and Power indicators on the user-facing side
Specifications
- Microcontroller – ATmega328P (Arduino UNO compatible)
- Input Voltage – 7–15 V DC (barrel jack) or USB powered
- USB – Micro-USB for programming and power
- Power Rails – 5 V and 3.3 V (4-pin headers), plus 5 V and GND along pin groupings
- Programming – Arduino IDE, select "Arduino UNO"
Ideal For
- Custom enclosure and panel-mount projects
