Arduino Leonardo ATmega32u4 without headers

Discontinued: This product has been discontinued.

The Arduino Leonardo is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega32U4, featuring built-in USB communication that allows it to appear as a keyboard, mouse, or serial device to a connected computer — no secondary USB chip required. This version ships without headers for an ultra-thin, lightweight form factor ideal for embedded projects and custom installations.

With 20 digital I/O pins (7 PWM, 12 analog inputs), a 16MHz crystal oscillator, micro USB connection, power jack footprint, and ICSP header breakout, the Leonardo contains everything needed to get started. Also available with pre-soldered headers for immediate breadboard and shield use.

Key Features

  • Native USB – Built-in USB on the ATmega32U4 enables keyboard, mouse, and serial device emulation
  • No Headers – Ultra-thin and lightweight; solder your own headers or wire directly
  • 20 Digital I/O Pins – 7 usable as PWM outputs, with 40mA per pin
  • 12 Analog Inputs – 10-bit resolution on pins A0–A11
  • Micro USB – Connect directly to a computer for power and programming

Specifications

  • Microcontroller – ATmega32U4
  • Operating Voltage – 5V
  • Input Voltage – 7–12V recommended
  • Digital I/O Pins – 20
  • PWM Channels – 7
  • Analog Input Channels – 12
  • Flash Memory – 32KB (4KB used by bootloader)
  • SRAM – 2.5KB
  • EEPROM – 1KB
  • Clock Speed – 16MHz
Note: The Leonardo differs from the Arduino Uno in its USB handling and is best suited for users with some Arduino experience. Shield compatibility is limited — the proto shield is recommended. Requires Arduino IDE 1.0.1 or higher.

Ideal For

  • Embedded projects requiring a thin, headerless board
  • USB HID projects (custom keyboards, mice, game controllers)
  • Custom installations with direct wiring
