Instead of measuring just one dot, the TF-NOVA projects a wide 14° by 1° curtain of laser light to create a continuous line of detection. At 1 metre, that line covers 25cm x 1.7cm, helping automated machines spot thin or awkward obstacles that a single-point sensor may miss.

Built on Pulse Time-of-Flight (PToF) technology, it is designed for stable distance measurement outdoors, including direct sunlight and lower-reflectivity targets. Its tiny 26.5×21.05×12.0mm body and 5g weight make it well suited to drones, gimbals, compact robots and other space-sensitive builds.

Integration is flexible, with UART, I2C and configurable I/O modes for platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The package includes the TF-NOVA Line Laser LiDAR ×1, a 1.25mm-to-2.54mm Dupont Cable (20cm) ×1, and a 1.25mm-to-1.25mm Cable (10cm) ×1; DFRobot also provides a product wiki, user manual and GUI.

5G

UAV
UAV stands for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, an aircraft that flies without an onboard pilot, such as a drone or autonomous aircraft. Because airborne platforms have limited payload, factors like weight, power draw and any positioning features such as GNSS or RTK are often important considerations.
wavelength
The distance between repeating peaks of a wave, often used to describe the colour of light in nanometres. For visible lasers and LEDs, wavelength tells you the approximate colour, such as red, green or blue.
