A complete environmental sensor breakout based on the Bosch BME680, combining gas sensing (VOC), temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure in a compact 25.4 × 25.4mm (1" × 1") board. The gas sensor detects a wide variety of volatile organic compounds for indoor air quality monitoring.
Communicates via I²C (with Qwiic connectors for solderless connection) or SPI. Both I²C and SPI pins are also broken out to standard 0.1" (2.54mm) headers for direct soldering.
Key Features
- BME680 Sensor – Gas (VOC), temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure in one IC
- VOC Detection – Monitors volatile organic compounds for indoor air quality
- I²C & SPI – Dual interface options; I²C available via Qwiic connectors
- Qwiic Compatible – Solderless I²C connection with daisy-chain support
- Compact – 25.4 × 25.4mm (1" × 1") breakout board
Ideal For
- Indoor air quality monitoring
- Weather stations and environmental data logging
- HVAC and ventilation monitoring
- Multi-sensor environmental projects

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- BME680
- A Bosch environmental sensor chip that measures temperature, humidity, air pressure, and gas-related air quality changes. Seeing BME680 tells you this breakout is built around a specific all-in-one sensor, so you can check library support, accuracy, and datasheet details for that chip.
- breakout
- A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
- Headers
- Rows of metal pins used to plug a module into a breadboard or connect it with jumper wires. Pre-soldered headers make the module easier to use straight away without needing to solder the pins yourself.
- Qwiic
- Qwiic is a plug-in connector system for I2C devices that uses small 4-pin cables, so you can connect compatible sensors without soldering. It matters because your controller or adapter also needs Qwiic, or you will need a cable or breakout to wire it up.
- SPI
- A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
- VOC
- Volatile organic compounds are gases released from things like paints, cleaners, smoke, and some plastics. A VOC reading helps indicate indoor air quality, but it is usually an index or estimate rather than a direct identification of each chemical.
