This compact ultrasonic ranging module is made for accurate long-range distance measurement in outdoor, environmental and industrial monitoring projects. It measures targets from 25 cm to 800 cm, making it useful for water level, liquid level, obstacle and container distance sensing.
A narrow 15° field of view helps focus the acoustic beam and minimise false echoes from nearby walls, pipes or tank structures. The IP67 sealed probe is suited to wet and dusty environments, while onboard temperature compensation helps maintain stable readings across changing conditions.
The sensor uses UART controlled output and is compatible with Arduino development boards. DFRobot provides a product wiki for setup details, and the package includes one Small Angle Ultrasonic Ranging Sensor-8m and one 4Pin sensor cable.
Features:
- 25 cm small blind area for close-range detection
- 15° narrow field of view for precise measurement
- High precision with low power consumption and fast response
- IP67 waterproof protection with onboard temperature compensation
- Strong anti-interference performance for outdoor monitoring
Specifications:
- Working voltage: DC3.3~5V

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- IP67
- An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
- Temperature compensation
- Temperature compensation means the sensor adjusts its readings to reduce errors caused by changes in water temperature. This matters for field monitoring because ponds, rivers, and tanks can vary in temperature throughout the day and across seasons.
- UART
- UART is a simple serial connection that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, often labelled TX and RX. It matters because this module is designed to replace a wired UART cable with a wireless link while keeping the same serial data format.
