The Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F is a compact optical dust sensor that uses an internal infrared LED and phototransistor arranged diagonally to detect fine particles in the air. The sensor outputs an analog voltage proportional to dust density, and its pulse pattern can distinguish between smoke and dust particles.

Ideal for air quality monitoring projects, air purifier systems, and environmental sensing applications. Includes a connection cable for easy integration.

Key Features

  • Optical Particle Detection – IR LED and phototransistor detect fine dust and smoke particles
  • Analog Output – Voltage proportional to measured dust density with 0.5 V per 0.1 mg/m³ sensitivity
  • Low Power – 11 mA typical, 20 mA max current consumption
  • Wide Operating Range – Functions from −10 °C to 65 °C

Specifications

  • Supply Voltage: 5–7 V
  • Current Consumption: 11 mA typical, 20 mA max
  • Sensitivity: 0.5 V / 0.1 mg/m³
  • Operating Temperature: −10 °C to 65 °C

Ideal For

  • Air quality monitoring and environmental sensing
  • Air purifier and filtration systems
  • HVAC and air conditioning integration
  • IoT environmental data logging

Package Contents

  • 1× Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F Dust Sensor
  • 1× Connection cable

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
phototransistor
A light-sensitive transistor that changes its electrical output when light hits it. Compared with a modulated IR receiver, a simple phototransistor can be more affected by ambient light, so it may need extra filtering or careful setup.
