This straight bar load cell (strain gauge) converts applied force or weight into a proportional electrical signal, with a maximum capacity of 5kg. It uses four strain gauges arranged in a Wheatstone bridge configuration for accurate, stable readings — ideal for building digital scales, weight monitoring systems, and force-sensing applications.

The aluminium-alloy bar construction keeps it lightweight and corrosion resistant. Pair it with an HX711 amplifier breakout board to easily interface with an Arduino or similar microcontroller.

Key Features

  • Capacity – 5kg maximum load
  • Type – Straight bar (single-point) load cell
  • Material – Aluminium alloy
  • Configuration – Four strain gauges in a Wheatstone bridge
  • Wire Colour Code – Red = E+, Green = O+, Black = E−, White = O−

Ideal For

  • DIY digital scales and weighing platforms
  • Weight and load monitoring in automated systems
  • Presence detection via surface strain measurement
  • Arduino and microcontroller-based force sensing projects

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

breakout
A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
Strain gauge
A sensor element that changes resistance when it is stretched or compressed. It is commonly used for measuring force, weight, or bending, and often needs precise differential measurement electronics like this ADC.
