The Gravity IIC Ozone Sensor measures ozone (O₃) concentration from 0 to 10 ppm with 10 ppb resolution using an electrochemical sensing element. Factory-calibrated for accurate readings out of the box, it connects via I2C through DFRobot's Gravity 4-pin interface.

Compatible with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other 3.3–5.5V microcontrollers, this sensor is suited for air quality monitoring, disinfection equipment, and environmental sensing applications. The electrochemical cell has a working life of over 2 years in air.

Key Features

  • Electrochemical Ozone Sensing – Factory-calibrated for accurate O₃ measurement
  • 0–10 ppm Range – With 10 ppb (0.01 ppm) resolution
  • I2C Output – Simple digital interface via Gravity 4-pin connector
  • Wide Voltage Input – 3.3–5.5V DC compatible
  • 2+ Year Lifespan – Electrochemical cell rated for over 2 years in air

Specifications

  • Detection Gas – Ozone (O₃)
  • Measuring Range – 0–10 ppm
  • Resolution – 0.01 ppm (10 ppb)
  • Operating Voltage – 3.3–5.5V DC
  • Interface – I2C (Gravity 4-pin)
  • Warm-Up Time – ≤3 minutes
  • Response Time – ≤90 seconds
  • Recovery Time – ≤90 seconds
  • Operating Temperature – −20 to 50°C
  • Operating Humidity – 15–95% RH (non-condensing)
  • Dimensions – 37 × 27 mm

Ideal For

  • Air quality monitoring stations
  • Disinfection equipment monitoring
  • Smart home environmental sensing
  • Portable ozone detection instruments
Warning: The sensor requires a 24–48 hour initial warm-up on first power-up. Do not open the white waterproof membrane, expose to corrosive gases, organic solvents, or strong air convection. Avoid excessive shock or vibration.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

ESP32
ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
Gravity
Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
ppm
ppm means parts per million, a common way to express very small gas concentrations in air. For CO₂ sensors, the ppm range tells you what levels the sensor can measure, such as normal indoor air through to poorly ventilated spaces.
