The Gravity Analog TDS Sensor is an Arduino-compatible kit for measuring Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in water. TDS indicates how many milligrams of soluble solids are dissolved per litre — the higher the value, the less clean the water. This sensor outputs a 0–2.3V analog signal that can be read by any 3.3V or 5V microcontroller.

The kit uses an AC excitation source to prevent probe polarisation and extend probe life, while maintaining stable output readings. The waterproof probe can be immersed for long-term monitoring, making it suitable for domestic water testing, hydroponics, and aquariums.

Key Features

  • Wide Voltage Input – 3.3–5.5V, compatible with 5V and 3.3V controllers
  • Analog Output – 0–2.3V signal, plug and play via Gravity interface
  • AC Excitation – Prevents probe polarisation for longer probe life and stable readings
  • Waterproof Probe – 83 cm cable with XH2.54-2P connector
  • TDS Range – 0–1,000 ppm
  • Accuracy – ±10% F.S. at 25°C

Specifications

  • Input Voltage – 3.3–5.5V
  • Output Voltage – 0–2.3V
  • Working Current – 3–6 mA
  • Module Size – 42 × 32 mm
  • Module Interface – PH2.0-3P
  • Probe Length – 83 cm
  • Probe Interface – XH2.54-2P
Warning: Do not use the probe in water above 55°C. Keep the probe away from container edges to avoid inaccurate readings. The probe head and cable are waterproof, but the connector and signal transmitter board are not.

Ideal For

  • Domestic drinking water quality testing
  • Hydroponic nutrient monitoring
  • Aquarium water quality

Package Contents

  • 1× TDS Signal Transmitter Board
  • 1× Waterproof TDS Probe (83 cm)

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

AC excitation
AC excitation means the probe is driven with an alternating electrical signal rather than a steady DC signal. This matters for conductivity probes because it helps reduce electrode polarisation, improving measurement stability and probe life.
Gravity
Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
ppm
ppm means parts per million, a common way to express very small gas concentrations in air. For CO₂ sensors, the ppm range tells you what levels the sensor can measure, such as normal indoor air through to poorly ventilated spaces.
