The Waveshare UGV02 is a 6-wheel, 4WD off-road mobile robot chassis designed for robotics development and autonomous navigation projects. With flexible rubber tyres, independent suspension, and four driven wheels, it handles rough terrain, heavy loads, and shock absorption with ease.
The chassis includes an ESP32-based driver board (slave computer) with onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, serial bus servo outputs, PWM signal control, and a TF card slot. It supports multiple host computers including Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, and Jetson Orin Nano, communicating via serial port. Two 1020 European-standard aluminium profile extension rails provide mounting points for cameras, sensors, arms, and custom hardware.
Key Features
- 6 Wheels × 4WD – Increased ground contact and traction for off-road terrain
- Flexible Rubber Tyres – Shock absorption for rough and uneven surfaces
- ESP32 Slave Computer – Onboard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, serial bus servo driver, PWM output, and TF card slot
- Multi-Host Support – Compatible with Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, Jetson Orin Nano, and more
- 3S UPS Power Module – Supports 3× 18650 Li batteries in series with uninterruptible power and simultaneous charge/discharge

Resources
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- ESP32
- ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
- PWM
- Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
- ROS
- ROS, the Robot Operating System, is a set of software tools and libraries commonly used to build robot projects. Mentioning ROS support suggests the board has the kinds of interfaces and processing power often needed for cameras, sensors and robot control.
- servo
- A servo is a motor with built-in position control, usually told to move to a specific angle by a control signal. It matters when you need repeatable movement, such as steering, arms, flaps, or linkages, rather than continuous spinning.
- UPS
- An uninterruptible power supply is a battery-backed power system that keeps a device running when external power is unplugged or fails. For an embedded computer, it helps prevent sudden shutdowns that can corrupt files or interrupt a project.
