The Fermion MEMS Carbon Monoxide Sensor uses micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) technology to detect CO gas concentrations from 5 to 5,000 ppm. Its compact size, low power consumption, short preheat time, and fast response make it well suited for carbon monoxide leak alarms and portable CO detectors.
The sensor outputs an analogue voltage proportional to CO concentration and operates at 3.3–5V, making it easy to interface with Arduino and other microcontrollers.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- breakout
- A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
- ESP32
- ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
- ppm
- ppm means parts per million, a common way to express very small gas concentrations in air. For CO₂ sensors, the ppm range tells you what levels the sensor can measure, such as normal indoor air through to poorly ventilated spaces.
