This class kit bundles six Air:bit 2 drone kits for BBC micro:bit, giving students a hands-on way to build, code and fly their own drones as part of a STEAM program.
Air:bit combines the approachable micro:bit ecosystem with drone flight, helping students explore coding, engineering, aerodynamics, batteries, motors and creative fabrication. Drones can be controlled with code, an iPad or Android app, or with a programmable controller built from a second micro:bit.
Note: micro:bits are not included as standard with this kit. The supplier recommends 2x micro:bits per kit: 1x micro:bit for the drone and 1x micro:bit for the controller.
The platform can also be extended with a camera and sensors, opening up projects such as image capture, FPV and more advanced autonomous flights. Students can even design and fabricate their own frames using a 3D printer, laser cutter or other classroom tools.
Features:
- Make:code or java-programming
- Fly using a programmable remote, using a 2nd micro:bit, and app (iOS and Android)
- Advanced measurements in real-time
- Upgradeable with camera and multiple sensors
Included:
- 6 MakeKit Air:bit flight board with charger
- 6 High discharge lithium (LiPo) battery with fuse
- 24 Coreless high power electric motors
- 48 Propellers (4 spares per Air:bit)

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LiPo
- A LiPo (lithium polymer) battery is a rechargeable lithium battery widely used in portable projects because it is light and compact. LiPo cells need correct charging circuitry and careful handling to stay safe, so equipment that supports LiPo generally includes charging or protection hardware suited to that battery type.
