The Adafruit Sensirion SHT31-D is a high-accuracy temperature and humidity sensor with a true I2C interface and PTFE filter for protection against dust and contaminants. Part of Sensirion's third-generation SHT sensor family, it delivers ±2% relative humidity and ±0.3 °C temperature accuracy for reliable environmental monitoring.

The sensor supports two I2C addresses, allowing you to run two SHT31-D sensors on the same bus. It's compatible with both 3.3 V and 5 V systems, making it easy to integrate with virtually any microcontroller or single-board computer.

Key Features

  • Relative Humidity Accuracy – ±2% RH typical
  • Temperature Accuracy – ±0.3 °C typical
  • PTFE Filter – Protects the sensor from dust while allowing accurate humidity readings
  • True I2C Interface – Two selectable addresses for running dual sensors on one bus
  • 3.3 V / 5 V Compatible – Works with a wide range of development boards

Also Consider

  • SHT40 Sensor – Newer generation with STEMMA QT connectors and ±1.8% RH accuracy
  • SHT45 Sensor – Highest precision with ±1.0% RH and ±0.1 °C accuracy
  • SHTC3 Sensor – Compact option with STEMMA QT connectors

Ideal For

  • Environmental monitoring and weather stations
  • HVAC and climate control systems
  • Indoor comfort monitoring
  • Data logging and scientific experiments

Package Contents

  • 1× Adafruit Sensirion SHT31-D Temperature & Humidity Sensor Breakout (with PTFE filter)
  • 1× Header strip (soldering required)

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

breakout
A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
single-board computer
A complete computer built onto one circuit board, usually including the processor, memory, ports, and connectors. This matters because accessories like heatsinks must match the board’s layout and mounting holes to fit properly.
STEMMA
A plug-and-cable connection system used on some maker electronics boards to make wiring simpler. If a product uses STEMMA, you need the matching cable or connector type to plug it in without soldering.
STEMMA QT
A small plug-in connector system for I2C boards that lets you connect compatible sensors and controllers without soldering. It matters because it can make wiring faster and less error-prone, especially when adding several small modules to a project.
