The MB7489 4-20HR-MaxSonar-WRMI is a rugged, weather-resistant ultrasonic distance sensor designed for outdoor applications. It provides millimetre-resolution distance readings from 500mm to 5000mm using a 4–20mA analogue current output (20mA at minimum range, 4mA at maximum range), making it directly compatible with industrial PLCs and data acquisition systems.
The sensor is housed in a compact, robust PVC enclosure rated to IP67, compatible with standard 3/4-inch PVC pipe fittings. It uses advanced signal processing — including continuously variable gain, real-time background calibration, waveform signature analysis, and noise rejection algorithms — to provide reliable readings even in noisy environments.
Key Features
- Weather Resistant – IP67-rated PVC housing for outdoor use
- 4–20mA Output – Industry-standard analogue current interface
- Millimetre Resolution – ~1.6mm measurement resolution
- Long Range – 500mm to 5000mm detection range

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- IP67
- An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
