The eTape Liquid Level Sensor is a solid-state resistive sensor that measures fluid level without mechanical floats. As the liquid level rises, the hydrostatic pressure compresses the sensor envelope, decreasing its resistance. The output is inversely proportional to the liquid height — lower liquid means higher resistance, higher liquid means lower resistance.
The sensor is resistive, so it can be read directly from a microcontroller or Arduino ADC pin with a simple voltage divider circuit. A 4-pin connector and 560Ω resistor are included so you don't need to solder directly to the delicate sensor pins.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- ADC
- An analogue-to-digital converter reads a changing voltage and turns it into a number the microcontroller can use. It matters when connecting analogue sensors such as light, sound, or variable-resistor sensors.
- microcontroller
- A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
