The DFRobot 10 DOF MEMS IMU Sensor combines four sensors on a single compact board — the ADXL345 accelerometer, ITG-3205 gyroscope, HMC5883L magnetometer, and BMP085 barometric pressure sensor. Together they provide 10 degrees of freedom for measuring acceleration, rotation, heading, and altitude.

The board communicates via I2C and accepts 3–8V input through an onboard low-noise LDO regulator. At just 26×18mm with M3 mounting holes, it's well suited to drones, balancing robots, and other space-constrained projects. Directly compatible with Arduino.

Key Features

  • 10 Degrees of Freedom – Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and barometric pressure on one board
  • ADXL345 Accelerometer – 3-axis digital accelerometer
  • ITG-3205 Gyroscope – 3-axis digital gyroscope
  • HMC5883L Magnetometer – 3-axis digital compass
  • BMP085 Pressure Sensor – Barometric pressure for altitude measurement
  • I2C Interface – Simple two-wire communication
  • Wide Voltage Input – 3V to 8V with onboard low-noise LDO regulator
  • Compact Design – 26×18mm (1.02×0.71") with M3 mounting holes
  • LED Power Indicator – Visual confirmation of power status
  • Gold-Plated PCB – Improved durability and solderability

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Gyroscope
A gyroscope measures rotation, such as how fast a board is turning around its X, Y, and Z axes. This matters for projects like gesture controls, balancing robots, and motion tracking where tilt or rotation changes need to be detected.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
IMU
An Inertial Measurement Unit combines motion sensors to measure movement and orientation. It matters for asset tracking because it can detect movement, tilt, vibration, or changes in direction.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
magnetometer
A sensor that measures magnetic fields, often used to work out compass direction. It matters because nearby magnets, motors, or metal objects can affect readings and may require calibration.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
UAV
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, such as a drone or autonomous aircraft. The term matters here because high-accuracy GNSS and RTK are often used when a flying robot needs precise position information.
