The MB7139 XL-TrashSonar-WR is a weather-resistant ultrasonic sensor specifically designed for waste bin fill-level monitoring. It measures the distance to the nearest target from 20 cm to 350 cm with centimetre resolution at a fast 10 Hz read rate, outputting data via analogue voltage, pulse-width, or RS232 serial.
Housed in a rugged PVC enclosure rated IP67, the sensor fits standard ¾-inch electrical PVC pipe fittings for easy mounting inside bins and containers. Factory-calibrated narrow beam patterns and advanced noise rejection provide reliable readings in harsh outdoor environments.

Resources
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- IoT
- Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
- IP67
- An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
