This graphene-based circular flex force sensor is built for pressure and touch sensing in tougher environments than standard FSR-style sensors. It detects force across a 20g to 6kg range, with resistance changing linearly as pressure is applied for easier interpretation in control systems.
The thin 0.45 mm film construction suits compact mechanical designs, robotics, tactile interfaces and embedded pressure pads. It is rated for operation from -40 °C to +120 °C, making it useful around heated surfaces, machinery and automotive applications where ordinary flexible sensors may struggle.
The sensor supports direct soldering for a more permanent connection than plug-in membrane sensor connectors. The supplier also shows a typical voltage-divider sampling circuit using a series 2KΩ resistor, and the shipping list includes one Circular Flexible Potentiometer.
Features:
- High-temperature stability: Maintains stable operation in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +120°C.
- Precision linear output: Resistance changes linearly with applied pressure to simplify data interpretation.
- Wide force detection: Accurately perceives pressures as light as 20g and as heavy as 6kg.
- Rapid response: Activation time of less than 0.01 seconds and response latency under 1ms.
- Mechanical durability: Tested to withstand over 10 million mechanical presses at 1kg force.
- Ultra-thin integration: Measures only 0.45mm in thickness for compact spaces.
- Direct soldering: Allows permanent, secure wire connections for vibrating or mobile applications.
Specifications:
- Thickness: 0.45 mm
- Actuation Force: 20g
- Pressure Range: 20g ~ 6 kg
- Resistance at Actuation (20g): < 200 kΩ
- Resistance at Full Scale (6kg): < 1 kΩ
- Response Time: < 1 ms
- Operating Temperature: -40 °C ~ +120 °C
- Durability: > 10 million cycles (1 Kg force, flexible press)
- Activation Time: < 0.01 S
Suitable uses include robotic gripper force feedback, tactile robot skins, seat occupancy sensing, heated surface monitoring, safety switches and pressure-sensitive touch panels.
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- FSR
- Full-scale range is the span between the lowest and highest output a converter can produce. Error specifications given as a percentage of FSR depend on the selected output range, such as 2.5 V or 5 V.
- potentiometer
- A variable resistor usually turned with a knob or shaft to create an adjustable electrical signal. It is often used for inputs such as volume, brightness or position, so it helps beginners learn how a microcontroller reads changing values.
