The SpectraFlex Flex Sensor is a lightweight bend sensor for measuring flex and movement in research, industrial, wearable and maker projects. This 55mm version includes male pins, making it straightforward to connect into your circuit.
Its reduced weight and thickness help it adapt to a wide range of applications, while the sensor is designed for durability across repeated bending. The source documentation notes a lifespan of over 2 million bend cycles at 180 degrees over an 8mm radius.
SpectraFlex uses low-drift technology for precise readings and swift signal responsiveness, making it a reliable option where repeatable bend measurement matters. A datasheet is available from the manufacturer.
Specifications:
- Flat Resistance (Ohms): 12,000 ±20%
- Resistance Change Multiplier: defined as a function of bend radius (8mm) and angular deflection (180°): >4x
- Repeatability (under controlled conditions): ±2%
- Operating Temperature: -35°C to +80°C
- Life Cycle: >2 million cycles with a bend angle of 180° over an 8mm (0.315”) radius
- Recommended Bend Radius: 2.5mm to 8mm
Ideal for bend sensing, gesture input, wearables, robotics and other projects where a thin, responsive flex sensor is needed.
