Built around Quectel's quadband LG290P module, the TX2 is a high-precision GNSS receiver designed for straightforward field positioning. When receiving RTK corrections, it is capable of 8mm accuracy, with L1/L2/L5/E6 reception and Galileo HAS support.
The receiver is housed in a robust waterproof enclosure with a compact internal helical GNSS antenna and an enclosed battery that lasts over 50 hours. It can connect to modern phones and tablets over Bluetooth, and uses WiFi for NTRIP corrections and TCP location data distribution.
The package includes 1x SparkPNT TX2, 1x Hard-Shell Carrying Case, 1x USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable, 1x USB A and C Power Delivery (PD) Wall Adapter - 65W, 1x Antenna Thread Adapter - 1/4in. to 5/8in., and 1x SparkPNT Sticker. It does not include a Telescopic Surveying Pole or Pole Clamp for 8.7in Tablets.
Documentation available from SparkFun includes the LG290P datasheet, RTK Everywhere product manual, TX2 schematic, GitHub firmware repo, and PointPerfect subscription registration resources.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- Galileo
- Europe’s satellite navigation system. Galileo support can improve satellite availability and accuracy, especially when combined with GPS and other constellations.
- GNSS
- GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System, covering positioning systems such as GPS and similar satellite networks. It matters here because high-precision GNSS modules can output lots of serial position data that this product can send wirelessly to a computer or phone.
- L5
- A modern GNSS signal band used by several satellite systems for more accurate and robust positioning. Dual-band receivers that include L5 can often perform better than single-band receivers, especially for RTK and areas with reflected signals.
- RTK
- Real-Time Kinematic positioning is a GNSS technique that uses correction data from a base station to greatly improve location accuracy. It matters if you need centimetre-level positioning for robotics, mapping, surveying, or tracking rather than ordinary metre-level GPS accuracy.
- Thread
- A low-power wireless mesh networking standard designed for smart home and IoT devices. It matters because Thread devices can relay messages through each other, helping build reliable networks for sensors and controllers.
- USB-C
- A modern reversible USB connector used for power and data connections. On this product it matters because it can connect directly to a computer as well as to a microcontroller project.
