A simple breadboard power supply that takes a 6–12 V input and outputs a regulated 5 V or 3.3 V. All headers are at 0.1" pitch for direct insertion into a standard breadboard, with the output pins spaced to power both breadboard power rails simultaneously.

Input power connects via the DC barrel jack or a 2-pin header. The board includes an on/off switch and a voltage select switch to toggle between 3.3 V and 5 V output.

Key Features

  • Selectable Output – Switch between 3.3 V and 5 V regulated output
  • 6–12 V Input – Via 5.5 × 2.1 mm centre-positive barrel jack or 2-pin header
  • 800 mA Operating Current – Sufficient for most breadboard projects
  • On/Off Switch – Convenient power control
  • PTC Fuse Protection – Resettable fuse protects against overcurrent
  • Power Status LED – Visual power indicator
  • Dimensions – 2.15 × 0.65"
Note: Headers are not included. You will need to supply your own 0.1" pitch headers to connect this board to a breadboard.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

DC barrel jack
A round power connector commonly used for low-voltage DC power supplies, often described by its outer and inner diameters such as 5.5 x 2.1 mm. Matching the barrel size and polarity is important so the plug physically fits and powers the device correctly.
Headers
Rows of metal pins used to plug a module into a breadboard or connect it with jumper wires. Pre-soldered headers make the module easier to use straight away without needing to solder the pins yourself.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
PTC fuse
A resettable fuse that increases its resistance when too much current flows, helping protect the board from short circuits or overloads. It matters because it can recover after a fault instead of needing replacement like a traditional fuse.
