Add magnetic sensing to your project with this breakout built around the Texas Instruments DRV5032 digital Hall effect sensor. Its digital output changes when the magnetic flux density threshold is crossed, making it useful for detecting magnets, position, lids, doors, rotations and other simple magnetic events.
The DRV5032 integrates the Hall effect element, analogue signal conditioning and a low-frequency oscillator for ultra-low average power use. It periodically measures magnetic flux density, updates the output, then returns to a low-power sleep state.
The board includes a 3-pin header for breadboard use, plus a plug-and-play JST PH 3-pin connector with 2mm pitch for solderless wiring. The matching cable is sold separately and is not required if you use the header.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- 2mm pitch
- Pitch is the distance between the centres of neighbouring pins on a connector. A 2mm pitch header is smaller than the common 2.54mm breadboard spacing, so you need matching cables and headers rather than standard breadboard jumper leads.
- breakout
- A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
- JST PH
- A small keyed plug-and-socket connector with 2 mm pin spacing, often used for low-power electronics connections. You need the correct JST PH cable, and its current rating limits how much power should be passed through it.
- pH
- A measure of how acidic or alkaline a liquid is, on a scale where 7 is neutral. For a water monitoring kit, pH tells you about water chemistry and whether the included probe matches the range and accuracy your project needs.
