Built for robot mapping and navigation, the RPLIDAR S2E uses SLAMTEC DTOF (Direct Time-of-Flight) technology to provide consistent ranging resolution across its measuring distance. It can detect a wide range of materials, including dark objects, highly reflective mirrors and transparent glass.
The scanner offers a 30 metre measuring radius for white objects, a high 32000 times/second sampling speed and stable performance indoors or outdoors, including strong sunlight conditions. Its compact optical scanning area is designed to be embedded neatly into robots and autonomous platforms.
The S2E shares the same interface port with A series RPLIDARs for easier upgrades in existing designs, and supports serial ports and network ports communication modes. SDK and user manual documents are provided, and the shipping list includes the RPLIDAR S2E, an adapter cable and an instruction card.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- PoE
- Power over Ethernet lets one Ethernet cable carry both network data and electrical power. This is useful when installing a device where running a separate power adaptor would be difficult.
- RJ45
- The common plug and socket style used for wired Ethernet network cables. If a board has an RJ45 connector, you can usually plug it into standard Ethernet cabling without making a custom connector.
